2023/24 News Highlights
It has been a weird year here at BlackRidge. Our home flooded back in February of this year 1 day after we bred our Nelli to our boy Bash. Life was Chaos but we made it through it and Nelli had a beautiful litter of 4 boys - 2 yellow and 2 black. Ike is in a wonderful repeat home in Reno, NV, Homer stayed here with us, we co-own Tater with our dear friends Eugene and Laura, and Hogan has a local home where he is working hard to become a service dog for his person that waited 2 years for him.
Our show season started out in January but fizzled quickly when an ice storm prevented us from going to Portland to see friends and show our dogs. So, we waited until March and attended the San Joaquin LRC where our girls Rodeo and Smack showed in the ring for the 1st time. Rodeo lived up to her name and we have some issues to work through. Gator took home 2 JAMS and Bonnie received 1. We are thrilled with those results.
Beacon came home to visit from our friend we co-own him with in Arizona. He started his show career out with a bang by getting RWD to his brother and then the next show he earned himself his 1st major at just 9 Months old! Love this boy!!! Now it is October and he only needs a couple points to finish.
We attended specialties and all breed shows alike and have done well. We are so proud of our dogs. We got Nelli back in the ring after letting her bounce back after having puppies. And boy did she bounce! Her 1st show weekend she took a Best of Breed, Select, and best opposite sex. The next weekend she took Best of Breed and a Group 1 Sporting and was able to go in for Best in Show! What a weekend! That same weekend Bonnie took a BOB OH and received and Group 3 OH Sporting.
Bash, not to be outdone, took a Select dog at the Greater Denver LRC specialty over 140 beautiful labrador retrievers. This boy is really coming into his own and people are starting to notice! Gator is Gator and he just loves everybody. We are letting him grow some coat back after a horrible shed and he will be back in the ring in October at our local shows.
Les and I will celebrate 30 years of married life by going to a specialty in Texas in November. Only dog people would rather go to a dog show than take a cruise.....
Stay tuned for more litter news from BlackRidge this winter/spring. Surprises are coming...
